COSTA RICA

Osa Peninsula & Rainforest

One of the most intense biological places on earth.
Our 7-day small-group Costa Rica Photo Adventure takes you to the crown jewel of land, water, and life… the Osa Peninsula. National Geographic named it “the most biologically intense place on earth.” Located on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, the Peninsula covers more than 700 square miles of unparalleled biodiversity. It is estimated to contain 2.5% of the biodiversity of the entire world – while covering less than a thousandth of a percent of its total surface area.
Using our hotel as a base, our explorations throughout this tropical rainforest will focus on a variety of wildlife, including four species of monkeys (Howler, Spider, White-Faced Capuchin, and the endangered Squirrel monkey), a wide variety of tropical birds, including Toucan, Tanagers, Hummingbirds, Parrots, and the endangered Scarlet Macaws. We’ll also search for sea turtles, Golfo Dulce poison dart frogs, sloths, tamandua, coati, and maybe even a Puma.

A photo workshop in Costa Rica just wouldn’t be complete without photographing landscapes, seascapes, nature, local fishermen, ranchers, surfers, and authentic Costa Rican culture.

This adventure is designed not only to guide you to the most photogenic locations carefully planned for the best light, but to aid you in mentally visualizing a scene before capturing the decisive moment. Our aim is to raise your awareness and spark your creativity so that you not only go home with images to be proud of, but use your new found skills to improve and expand your photographic technique in general. Apart from the technical aspect of learning your camera settings and capabilities, you will learn how to turn an ordinary image into an extraordinary image by using your own creativity.

In addition, you will become knowledgeable on how to survey the landscape, utilize and approach your environment, photograph people indigenous to the region and the cultural considerations and challenges of photographing in a foreign country. Our time together will include individual and group discussions, inspiring ideas and great fun. We cannot think of a better location to express your creativity than in Costa Rica.
